Peppermint: Botanical name: Mentha piperita, and it has been used due to its stimulating cooling, analgesic, antimicrobial and antiallergic herbal actions in IBS,  headaches, nausea, but caution should be used in any hypersensitivity to mint family,  kidney stones , hiatal hernia and liver damage.

Peppermint is a hybrid between water mint and spearmint and is native to Europe but now it is spread all over the world. It is quite popular in candy making, cosmetics, candle production, and other applications in  cosmetics or culinary arts.  

The constituents of dried peppermint are typically volatile oils containing menthol,  menthone, menthyl acetate, menthofuran and 1,8-cineol. Peppermint contains terpenoids and flavonoids such as eriocitrin, hesperidin, and kaempferol.  Peppermint oil also contains small amounts of many additional compounds,  including limonene, pulegone, caryophyllene, and pinene.

Caution should be used if higher doses of Peppermint are used such as in capsules or as Peppermint oil.
