Botanical Name: Equisetum arvense

It is a nutritious herb that has been used since Galen’s times for bladder and gut troubles and later on for TB, syphilis, and various other infectious conditions, due to its anti-inflammatory effects.

Many people know horsetail for its hair, nail, and skin benefits because of high silica content. Other constituents are alkaloids, including nicotine, flavonoids, sterols, and misc chemicals including thiamin. Its actions are astringent, diuretic and supports wound healing.

Due to its affinity to the Genito urinary tract, it can help with kidney stones, UTIs and prostate enlargement or other reasons for inflammation. It has been approved by the German Commission E for urinary gravel and topical wound healing.
