Ashwagandha or Botanical Name Withania somnifera, belongs to the night shade family, or Solanaceae. Its active constituents are alkaloids, amino acids, iron, steroidal lactones. For many years it has been revered in the Ayurvedic tradition.

In modern times it has been classified as an adaptogen and may help with a variety of immune system problems as well as stress and sleep issues.
