American Skullcap: Botanical Description Scutellaria lateriflora, Lamiacea (Mint) family. It is native to Northern America and likes to grow in damp and sunny conditions such as river banks. It is known as the plant that soothes and can be easily combined with other nervine herbs like Catnip, Blue Vervain, Lavender and Wood Betony.

Constituents are minerals (calcium, zinc, potassium, magnesium), flavonoids, tannins, and iridoids.
