Mugwort or Botanical Name: Artemisia vulgaris has been growing in the British Isles and it has been associates with much of folklore such as witchcraft, and general protection from evil.

Legand is that Roman soldiers used to rub it against their feet to keep them from getting tired. The herb is named after the Greek goddess Artemis, the goddess of fertility, hunting, and forests.

Its constituents are:
Volatile oils, sesquiterpene lactones, tannins, flavonoids, coumarin derivatives, triterpenes (Hoffman, 2003).It acts as a nervine, anthelmintic, cholagogue, emmenagogue digestive, and antiparasitic. It can be used as a tea or topically as moxibustion.
