Lemon grass or the botanical name Cymbopogon citrus, grows in Subtropics such as Thailand, India, and tropical Australia and has been used in many Thai or Indian Cuisine due to its citrusy aroma.

It also has been used by Paracelsus for its medicinal effects. It is a source of antioxidants, flab=vonoids, lemon, and citral as well as essential vitamins such as vitamin A, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin) B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), folate and vitamin C. It also provides essentil minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, manganese, copper, zinc, and iron, which are required for the healthy functioning of the human body. Lemonal and citral are its constituents that give off the lemony aroma and they may be helpful as anti-fungal and antimicrobial. Lemongrass has been used for detoxification, management of cholesterol, and insomnia, and stomach disorders.
